What was the interview process like?
I had to complete an online application, numeric and verbal reasoning assessments, a telephone interview and finally an assessment centre. The process was a challenging experience but one where you got the opportunity to show off your strengths.
What advice would you give to students applying for your role?
Don't be put off if you don’t know anything about insurance as the training and support from colleagues you receive is really good and you quickly pick things up. You also need to be willing to learn and open to experiencing a range of new things.
What do you most enjoy about your role?
The variety which it allowed; my team leader ensured I a variety of tasks and projects to work over the duration of my internship. For example I was able to spend time on existing and new business, as well as going out on surveys and to visit brokers.
What has been your biggest challenge?
Learning the terminology used within insurance was a challenge, however, many people in the office have been in the same position so there are lots of tailored guides and people to help you out!
Describe your biggest achievement
My biggest achievement was being offered a graduate job at the end of my internship. It showed me that the hard work I put in had been noticed and it felt good to know people believed I was up to the job.
What is the office atmosphere like?
The atmosphere in the office is very welcoming with lots of highly experienced people around who are more than willing to spend some time with you.
What activities are there outside of work?
My office recently completed a walk up Mount Snowdon which we did to raise money for our corporate charity, The Association of Air Ambulances. We also have regular social nights after work, as well as a variety of sports clubs which you can join.
How promising are the graduate prospects?
If you perform well and during your internship you may be offered a place on the graduate scheme. The graduate schemes at Allianz are among the best in the industry in terms of the training, development and support, so the opportunities are exceptional.
