What have you learned from your experiences at DLA Piper?

A lot! Coming into a law firm is a daunting prospect, but you quickly realise just how nice everyone is. I've learned the importance of being organised and communicating effectively. Everyone finds their own way to work efficiently, which is important in an environment where teamwork is essential. I've learned a lot about being adaptable and resilient, often having to think outside of the box to help find solutions to issues. Always maintaining a positive attitude, throwing yourself into every opportunity and being open to constructive feedback are key to development.

What has surprised you most about DLA Piper?

The opportunity.

During my time as a trainee, I've had the opportunity to be involved in so many amazing

projects and transactions. The breadth of clients means that every day brings new learning opportunities. If you are interested in a particular sector, the chance to get involved is always just an email or phone call away. As a trainee, you're given a surprising level of independence which is so important for developing personally and professionally. It encourages you to be your best and to appreciate every experience.

How would you describe the culture at DLA Piper?

Friendly, collaborative and ambitious.

Everyone is always happy to help as they want to see you succeed. The firm fosters a positive, dynamic atmosphere where everyone can feel welcome. This makes it a fulfilling place to work. The firm is innovative, and is always looking for ways to pioneer new technology and processes. Its commitment to the communities and environments in which it operates is clear to see. The firm is ambitious in its strategy, but is equally ambitious in making positive change.
