Placement (10 Months+)

What is your role at PepsiCo and what site are you based at?

I am an Engineering Intern based at PepsiCo's Lincoln site, working within the WSF (Water, Steam, and Fuel) team.

Why did you apply for the Supply Chain placement year at PepsiCo?

I’ve always had a passion for the FMCG sector, and PepsiCo’s reputation made it an easy choice. I applied to several companies, but PepsiCo’s emphasis on sustainability, community involvement, and employee satisfaction stood out. The company's supportive culture and its commitment to celebrating employee milestones drew me in, making me feel excited to be a part of the PepsiCo family.

What exciting opportunities did you experience this year?

One of the highlights of my year was leading the UK-wide Pilot Steam Trap project, focused on improving steam savings and reducing gas usage in the pellet plant. This project allowed me to collaborate with colleagues from the US and gather valuable data that was distributed across UK sites. Additionally, I had the chance to lead a sustainability business project for the Lincoln Award at the University of Lincoln, representing PepsiCo. This initiative was deeply fulfilling as I engaged with the local community while identifying ways to reduce waste at our site.

What support were you given throughout your placement year?

The support from both the UK ReCon team and the Lincoln site was incredible. Lincoln truly feels like a family—everyone is approachable and always willing to help. This culture of encouragement and support really helped me drive forward with confidence on every project I took on.

What makes you proud to work for PepsiCo?

I love how people-oriented PepsiCo is and how many opportunities I’ve been given to develop my skills. I especially value the Smiles platform—it promotes a positive and rewarding environment that constantly pushes me to grow.

What is one piece of advice you would give to someone who is considering a placement year?

"If you don’t ask, you don’t get." Take the initiative to ask for opportunities. At PepsiCo, people are more than willing to encourage and support you, but you must take that first step. There's no harm in asking, and it creates room for tremendous growth.
