Student Civil Engineering Placement
I am currently in my third (sandwich) year, working towards a Civil Engineering degree at Nottingham Trent University and currently completing my gap year placement here at Via in the Major Projects and Improvements team. I have been inspired to develop a career in engineering by innovative design solutions I have encountered whilst travelling and from having a keen interest in environmentally sustainable solutions.
Although my career is just taking off, I have enjoyed having the privilege to experience highway projects that will benefit the local community and have lasting benefits. Despite all other challenges the pandemic has brought, I am glad to say that the past nine months I have spent gaining practical insight into design and engineering at Via have been educational and enjoyable. With confidence and discipline to develop my professional career, I look forward to exploring all that civil engineering involves and encouraging more young female engineers to join the engineering industry.
