About Mott MacDonald

We’re a global engineering, management and development consultancy focused on guiding our clients through many of the planet’s most intricate challenges. Being employee-owned allows us to choose the work taken on and focus on the issues that are important.

Independent in thought and action, we advise what is genuinely right for our clients, our staff, and communities – not what is easy. We want to do a great job for everyone involved, while offering excellent opportunities for placement students and graduates.

Our engineers, environmentalists, and project managers take leading roles on some of the world’s highest profile projects, turning obstacles into elegant, sustainable solutions. By challenging norms and unlocking creativity, we deliver long-lasting economic, environmental and social outcomes for societies around the globe. Yet design and management are just the tip of a deep iceberg. Our global team is comprised of internationally recognised environmentalists, planners, economists, project finance advisors, cost consultants, business strategists and more.

Whatever your career goals are, you can be confident that Mott MacDonald we will help you meet your ambitions and beyond.

Across our many offices in the UK and Europe, we offer two types of placement programme: summer placement (8-12 weeks) and industrial placement (6-12 months). Our opportunities span a range of different sectors and are based within a variety of different teams, so as you can imagine, each role varies. If you’re invited to an interview, this is when we will discuss in more detail the specifics of the job role you applied for and what it involves.

Our graduate career paths equip you to advance. You'll learn from industry experts, receive structured training through our development programme, and gain experience on community-enhancing projects whilst making a difference.

You’ll be working with graduates, experienced professionals, and other students so a placement or a graduate role with us is the perfect opportunity to learn from a variety of people while understanding our values and culture. It’s also a great chance to get involved with real projects while gaining relevant experience.

Our 2024 opportunities open for applications now – graduate roles have a rolling deadline and all placement opportunities will close on 31st December.

One of the most interesting projects I’ve been involved in so far is my role as a Design Coordinator on the HS2 project. It’s incredibly exciting to be responsible for managing the design of four key assets, knowing they will soon be brought to life on one of the UK’s largest infrastructure projects.

The projects that Mott MacDonald are involved with sounded exciting, innovative, and relevant, and engineering seemed like an interesting career to follow after my degree. I was also really drawn to Mott MacDonald due to their values, in particular the emphasis on sustainability, as this is something I'm also passionate about.
