Summary

In the 12-month Mechanical Engineering Placement, you'll gain invaluable skills and experience covering all aspects of mechanical engineering, from initial requirements through concept to full product design covering both design and analysis disciplines. Along with this you will be defining test specifications and supporting physical tests. Ultimately products you will work on will move into production and gain flight hours.

Roles and Responsibilities

In the 12-month Mechanical Engineering Placement, you'll gain invaluable skills and experience covering all aspects of engineering from requirements and design analysis to product design to defining test specifications.  

In our Cheltenham site our product portfolio is focussed in three main areas; Electrical Power Distribution systems, Avionics Controllers and Displays. 

Within this Placement, you could be exposed to any element of the product development lifecycle from new product development (NPI) to in service support. 

You will be guided by structured goals and objectives and will have responsibility to deliver on inspiring projects supported by your People Leader and team around you. We will guide you throughout the year to ensure you make the best of your GE Aerospace experience. Your People Leader will offer coaching and mentoring, and you will be provided with the opportunity to connect with other placement students across the UK.

Qualifications/Requirements

• Currently studying or recently achieved a Mechanical Design/ Mechanical Analysis / Mechanical Engineering related bachelor’s or master’s degree
• On course or achieved a 2:1 degree

Recruitment Process  

As part of our recruitment process, you will be required to submit an initial CV application. After this, you may be invited to a video interview. UK Security Clearance

UK Security Clearance (SC) may be required and maintained for some of our placement roles. Due to the nature of work, some of these roles are restricted to candidates who are a British National, or a dual National where one of the dual nationalities is British subject to any restrictions. Candidates who do not meet the minimum requirements for UK Security Clearance will therefore not be eligible for some of our roles on grounds of national security. If UK Security Clearance is not obtained for some roles, any offer of employment may be withdrawn on grounds of national security.
