About the Department:

The Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Department at Williams Racing is dedicated to advancing our cutting-edge CFD simulations and analyses. Our team of multidisciplinary engineers is committed to exploring and implementing innovative technologies and methodologies to refine our simulation processes. This continuous pursuit of excellence ensures that our experiments and insights drive superior performance on the track. 

Role Overview:

The successful candidate will join our CFD Team and will help develop the methodologies and processes used to help deliver car performance. Throughout the placement you will be supported and mentored by one of our experienced CFD Engineers.

Your Responsibilities:

As a CFD Industrial Placement at Williams, you will:

  • Apply CFD principles to aid in the development of F1 car performance.
  • Optimise CFD processes to enhance correlation with wind tunnel and track data.
  • Collaborate with Aerodynamicists and Software Teams to advance the department’s capabilities.
  • Develop programming skills to create robust solutions for technical challenges.
  • Analyse performance data and identify opportunities for process improvements.
  • Conduct root cause analysis to resolve technical issues efficiently.

Preferred Candidate Profile:

The ideal candidate will possess a combination of the following:

  • Currently pursuing a degree in a relevant subject such as Aerodynamics, Aeronautics, Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), Fluid Mechanics, Thermodynamics and Mathematics. 
  • An aptitude for coding and code development is essential.
  • Demonstrate creativity in approaching challenges and developing innovative solutions.
  • Possess a keen eye for detail, ensuring precision and accuracy in all tasks.
  • Enjoy solving complex problems with analytical and logical thinking.
  • Excel in a team environment, working collaboratively with colleagues across various departments.
