Summit ONE in Farnborough is home to the National Sales Company for the BMW Group in the UK, as well as BMW Group Financial Services which offers retailers, corporate and private customers a range of customised financial services. Alphabet (GB) Ltd. as a leading provider of Business Mobility Services is also located in Farnborough.

BMW UK, Farnborough – Legal, Compliance & Data Privacy - 13 Month Placement (July 2025)

We have several placement opportunities within our Legal, Compliance and Data Privacy teams including Legal Assistant, Compliance, Sales Compliance and Data & Privacy Protection.

Legal Team

Our Legal Team provides comprehensive, expert legal and associated advice, direction, and guidance to our UK Group Companies, both on campus and at other locations such as Oxford (MINI) and Chichester (Rolls-Royce Motor Cars). Responsibilities include:

  • Work on high-value litigation including research, case management (e.g., Disclosure).
  • Involvement in legal operations and innovation topics.
  • Support by reviewing Non-Disclosure Agreements, compiling Bundles, conducting legal research, and preparing training materials.

Compliance Team

The Compliance Teams are responsible for ensuring the BMW Group operates within laws, regulations, and internal policies. Responsibilities include:

  • Generating documents such as advisory documentation and compliance risk reports.
  • Providing independent assurance through risk assessments, thematic review, and surveillance activities.
  • Managing the regulations scanning process, team inbox, and updating internal compliance intranet pages.

Sales Compliance

Responsibilities within the Sales Compliance team include:

  • Supporting the oversight of sales intermediaries, ensuring legal and regulatory compliance.
  • Assisting the Sales Compliance Account Managers during retail site visits.
  • Supporting governance processes and updating regional team members.

Data & Information Protection Team

The Data & Information Protection team ensures compliance with data privacy regulations such as GDPR and PECR. Responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing data and information protection risks, policies, and procedures.
  • Managing data protection incidents and breaches.
  • Supporting the implementation of BMW Group Standards for data protection.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Studying towards a degree with a predicted grade of 2:2 or above, in a relevant field such as Law, Business, Social Sciences and Finance.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • A self-starter with the ability to work on your own initiative.
  • Flexible and adaptable individual.
  • Enthusiastic, passionate with a curiosity to learn and succeed.
  • A strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office – Word, Excel & PowerPoint.
