Quality Control Placement 

The Role

As a Quality Control Laboratory intern, you will gain exposure and experience in all areas of Quality Control, in support of our in-house production of Cosmetic and Medical Device products. You will work in both the analytical and microbiology laboratories and the incoming component inspection team.

Responsibilities

Performing analysis of Raw Materials, Bulk and Finished Product using techniques such as:

  • Ion Chromatography
  • Gas Chromatography
  • Infra-Red
  • Karl Fischer
  • Viscometers
  • Microbiological analysis of Finished Products and Water samples.
  • Inspection and release of incoming components 
  • Checking and carrying out calibrations of equipment and carrying out routine checks of equipment.
  • Supporting investigations from Customer Complaints
  • Supporting production with investigations and queries
  • Support R+D with stability testing and investigations. 
  • Ordering of chemicals and supplies for the lab.
  • General tidiness of the lab.
  • Exposure to project meetings and discussions with various other departments in the business.

Education and Prior Work Experience Required

  • Be an undergraduate/postgraduate in a Scientific subject.
  • Have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Be able to demonstrate a “can do” attitude and desire to continuously improve.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Have an enquiring mind.
  • Be competent in MS Office, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Special Requirements

Working as part of the Quality & Regulatory team and working closely with the QC Manager, Microbiology Manager and the QA Packaging Supervisor. You will also be expected to liaise closely with the production team and employees across the business at all levels.

Health & Safety

  • To ensure that they are aware of, understand and follow all Company Health & Safety instructions - accident/incident reporting, first aid etc.
  • To report any accidents or near misses to the Production Manager and/or Health & Safety Officer and/or Health, Safety & Environment Officer
