At Magnet Technology in Eynsham, Oxford, we are proud to be global leaders in the design and manufacture of superconducting magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) magnets. Our groundbreaking technology helps healthcare professionals around the world deliver exceptional patient care. As we prepare to move into a new state-of-the-art facility, our R&D team is at the forefront of shaping the future of our products and innovations.

This 12-month internship presents an exciting opportunity for students with an engineering background to contribute to the design and development of our superconducting magnets and control systems. You will be part of a dynamic team working to push the boundaries of medical technology while gaining hands-on experience in one of the world’s leading healthcare companies.

What You’ll Do

  • Design & Development: Support the design and development of control electronics and software for superconducting magnets.
  • Process Improvement: Take ownership of projects aimed at improving existing designs and processes, working independently to drive change.
  • Experiments & Analysis: Conduct experiments, analyse results, and report conclusions both in written reports and through verbal presentations in meetings.
  • Support & Collaboration: Assist the production team on the factory floor and collaborate with the customer support team to ensure smooth operations.
  • Professional Development: Participate in our structured Intern Development Programme, which focuses on building key skills such as communication, teamwork, and commercial awareness.

Who We’re Looking For

We’re looking for ambitious students with a strong engineering background who are eager to apply their skills to real-world challenges. If you’re excited about working on innovative projects and developing expertise in electronics and software engineering, this internship is a perfect fit for you.

About you:

  • You will be currently studying a degree in Engineering, Electronics, Robotics, Software or related subject, and looking for a 12 month placement as part of your degree programme.
  • You will have good problem solving and reasoning skills, and an aptitude for learning new skills.
  • You will have strong analytical skills.
  • You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

You must also have eligibility to work in the UK for the duration of the internship.
