Civil Engineering Placement

What you'll need

You'll need to be in your penultimate year of an ICE accredited BEng or MEng in Civil Engineering or a closely related subject and on track to receive a minimum of 2:1

What you'll be doing

This one-year, extraordinary development programme is packed with a variety of opportunities, designed to provide you with invaluable experience in your journey towards becoming a Chartered civil engineer.

You'll complete 2-4 placements in different teams. By working on live projects, you'll gain a broad grounding of engineering and a good understanding of what drives our business and how we deliver.

You'll be working alongside specialist engineers. That experience will get you the chance to contribute to major new infrastructure schemes, large renewal programmes and work within operational engineering teams and in more strategic roles.

You can also expect to complete placements in teams such as:

  • Infrastructure protection
  • Highway design and scheme implementation
  • Commercial management
  • Project management and asset management

The emphasis of both our placement and graduate scheme is on developing 'world class' civil engineers who seek to become the senior engineers and leaders of the future.

Where this career can take you

During this year long programme, you'd gain meaningful and valuable work experience. This will support you in your ongoing career journey towards becoming a fully-fledged Chartered or Incorporated civil engineer.

At the end of your placement, you may have the opportunity to be considered for graduate position through our fast track process.
