Job overview

Our Professional Services teams focus on putting our customers at the heart of our business and growing non-fare revenue streams to invest in improving the transport network.

TfL is the beating heart of London, globally recognised, locally loved. Our commercial partnerships, film, and media teams make the most of our true London brand to leverage over £200 million in non-fare revenue to the business. As the third-largest revenue stream for the business, it is essential for our teams to continue to work with the advertising, film, and brand licensing industry to deliver growth in exciting and innovative ways.

Sustainability

Sustainability is intrinsic to TfL’s work ethos, and we ensure that we operate in a sustainable way to protect and regenerate the natural world. Along with the rest of the business, we strive to make TfL a strong green heartbeat for London and embed ethical sustainability practices into our partner and commercial contracts, from reducing waste to utilising new carbon-efficient technologies.

What will I be doing?

As a graduate, your 2-year development programme will be made up of up to 4 six-month placement rotations. Our aim is to equip you with the range of skills and experience you need for your successful career. We also understand that everyone’s career is different, so every graduate’s journey is unique. Here’s an idea of what yours could look like:

NB the order of rotation is subject to change.

  • Showcase our unique filming locations across the network from live locations to unique historical disused stations to our key clients such as location managers and directors.
  • Work with the internal B2B marketing team as well as production marketing teams and publicists to gather behind-the-scenes footage and shots to promote our locations to the wider film and TV production industry.
  • Supervise production shoots on our network ensuring health & safety is being followed and shoots run smoothly.

Placement 2 - Brand Licensing - 6 months

  • Work with a variety of brands to create unique products from adidas/arsenal training kits to Kurt Geiger handbags, meet with our brand partners to create marketing content that drives sales of our licensed products.
  • Work with our agency IMG to secure new partnerships and produce TfL licensed products to high specifications, for sale around the world.
  • Work with our lawyers to ensure our trademarks are registered across various categories that support our commercial activities from licensed product through to location-based entertainment.

Placement 3 - Commercial Partnerships & Experiential – 6 months

  • Learn about the media marketplace and how TfL Commercial Partnerships fit into this landscape. Contribute to ideation sessions and sales pitches to major brands and agencies.
  • Support the delivery of partnerships, from accompanying brands on station tours to approve the sites and spaces they’ll have their campaign, to briefing both internal and external stakeholders throughout the process on any updates.
  • Identify new opportunities across the network to monetise as a commercial partnership, creating compelling sales presentations that can be taken out to the market.

Placement 4 – Advertising – 6 months

  • Work closely with our appointed media partners, Global and JCDecaux, to manage our high-quality advertising estate across Rail and Bus Shelters.
  • Work with the team to identify and introduce new advertising assets across our estate, using customer data and financial insight to justify this spending.
  • Collaborate with media partners to create and launch new initiatives to boost the OOH market as a whole and support with announcements and communications.
  • Keep the other commercial teams briefed and updated on any important media partner activity including new research, initiatives and launches.

Additional information

Across all placements, there is flexibility to work on projects that can nurture and grow your existing skillset as well as learn new skills. This will be down to you and your placement managers to discuss throughout the placement.

  • All graduates will complete all placements. We’d like graduates to have a full understanding of how the different teams operate, to gain a better understanding of the specialisms and enable better collaboration between all teams.

Where can this career take me?

Working across all four placements you will gain valuable and well-rounded experience of commercial and brand management, plus exposure to a variety of markets, stakeholders, and diverse opportunities that could lead you to a variety of roles.
