Finance & Treasury Industrial Placement
Job Information
The Finance & Treasury function is offering four Industrial Placement opportunities across Financial Management, Financial Reporting, Treasury, and Data & System. Each opportunity is designed to help you develop knowledge, skills, and behaviours, contributing to the development and improvement of Nationwide's processes, products, and services in your department.
You’ll build rewarding relationships across the organisation and externally to understand customer needs, resolve problems, and support the delivery of the Society blueprint. You'll also attend development workshops and complete a project aligned with our Social Impact strategy. These placements provide a pathway to a role on our graduate development programmes post-university.
In the Finance function, we ensure responsible financial management to benefit our customers. Our diverse teams provide services including financial partnering, statutory and regulatory reporting, liquidity and funding management, social housing lending, and strategy development.
Location
We offer hybrid working, with time in the office dedicated to problem-solving, learning, and collaborative work. For:
Financial Management, Financial Reporting, or Data & Systems: Spend at least two days per week at the Swindon head office.Treasury: Spend at least two days per week in Swindon or London.

What You’ll Be Doing
Financial Management
The Financial Management pathway encompasses business partnering teams and the Financial Planning & Stress Testing (FP&ST) team:
Business partnering teams provide financial insights, analysis, and challenge to various parts of the Society, supporting their objectives while offering commercial challenges.The FP&ST team produces the 5-year financial plan, designs stress scenarios for resilience testing, manages in-year performance, and reports a balanced scorecard to the Board.

Financial Reporting
This team manages Nationwide's financial reporting, including the Annual Report and regulatory reports. They ensure compliance with accounting standards and handle complex accounting areas. Other functions include reconciliations and tax calculations.

Treasury
The Treasury team ensures financial safety, security, and sustainability. Key functions involve managing balance sheet risks, raising wholesale funding, and hedging interest rate and foreign exchange risk.

Finance Data & Systems
This team ensures reporting and analysis systems meet business and regulatory needs while exploring new technologies for improved performance. The role includes coding, change requests, project work, and involvement in system updates.
A knowledge or interest in coding (e.g., VBA, SAS, Python) is beneficial.
Potential roles include working within the Data & Systems team with responsibilities like coding, project participation, and system development.

Entry Requirements
The placement runs from September 2025 to September 2026.You must be studying for an undergraduate degree in any discipline.
