Environmental Products Industrial Placement - (Carbon Credits)
Designed to accelerate your career in the commodities trading, technology, engineering, or environmental science spheres, this 12-month programme gives talented undergraduates exposure to the world-class people and careers on offer at Glencore.
This is a fast-paced placement in our London office. You will be given your own areas of responsibility and have the opportunity to contribute to the work of the business from day one.
By the end of the programme, you will have developed strong skills in your chosen function. You will also be equipped with the highest level of professionalism, personal ownership and commercial aptitude – skills that are essential to future careers at Glencore.
The Environmental Products Team
The Environmental Products Team aims to generate commercial opportunities in global carbon markets. We source and generate environmental commodities (carbon credits) in multiple jurisdictions, with a focus on regulated markets – in addition to supporting Glencore in delivering its climate obligations and targets.
The Environmental Products Placement
This placement is a unique opportunity to gain exposure to the entire life cycle of environmental products, ranging from initial opportunity assessment, due diligence, contracting, project and portfolio management and all the data and regulation analysis needed to operate in these markets.
Your day-to-day activities will vary, but key responsibilities could include:
- Monitoring and understanding new policies and regulations;
- Analysing market data;
- Supporting the team in opportunity assessment;
- Managing consultant relationships, negotiations and managing ongoing projects in the portfolio.
Specific requirements:
The ideal candidate has the following key skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required; the ability to work with VBA, Python and other coding languages is advantageous.
- Exceptional analytical and project management skills.
- Able to work flexibly with a global team across multiple jurisdictions and cultures.
- Able to work with a broad range of markets and technologies.
- A flexible approach to problem-solving, willingness to learn and work independently.
- Strong oral and written communication.
The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated interest in:
- Subjects relating to environmental markets and climate policies;
- Climate change policies and regulations, carbon trading and project development in low carbon sectors (energy efficiency, methane reduction, community projects, nature based solutions, carbon capture and removal, etc).

You must be studying a degree with a year in industry, and successful candidates need to be available to start their placements in July 2025.
