About You
It was a fantastic experience for me to gain valuable insights into the banking industry. I enjoyed very much the networking sessions in which I have opportunities to socialise with senior bankers who have spent years in the industry. I have learnt a lot about the banking culture and the primary role of many divisions within a bank. It is definitely something that will help me throughout my career.
I felt very valued during the insight programme. I was able to apply what I have learnt about finance and banking in the case studies and I got a great feedback for it. Valuable insights into specific divisions in banking made me feel more confident when talking to senior bankers and I have asked them more clever questions thanks to that.
I received great supports from the HR team. I was accommodated in a very nice apartment which is in a very handy location. The bankers I have spoken to also asked me questions about my intended career path and gave me valuable advice. Especially during the case studies I took part in, the DCM analysts showed me thoroughly about valuation methodologies which I am very interested in.
I gained lots of financial and economics knowledge through workshops and panel. I understand more about current affairs after speaking to senior bankers and listening to their points of view from a work perspective. My communication skills have developed significantly after many networking sessions and I have made friends and I believe these contacts will be valuable for my future career.
The Company
The insight was very well structured. Before the event, we received detailed emails from the HR about the structure of the programme and we received a lot of follow-up emails to make sure that we did not miss any sessions. The HR team was always with the attendees throughout the event to offer supports and make sure the programme went smoothly
The general atmosphere was very educative and supportive. Everyone I met is very friendly. They also have lot of experiences and are willing to share them with you. Things got a bit competitive during the case studies and the team building sessions but it was very enjoyable and had lots of fun. I felt Bank of America Merrill Lynch would be a good place to spend your career at.
The company invested a lot in the programme as a whole. The presentations were given with careful handouts and instructions. BAML even hired a comedian to teach us about communication and networking skills which I felt really interesting. The case studies were very informative in terms of financial knowledge and current awareness.
I spoke to a lot of bankers who have spent over 10 years in BAML. They received 3 month training in New York, which were very nice experiences. Some of them have worked for BAML in Australia, New York and Singapore and they all received great supports from BAML for relocation. There are also a lot of social benefits to a BAML employee.
The insight was very helpful for me to understand more about the company culture. The culture is something that sets BAML aparts from its competitors. BAML has lots of societies inside it which has the aim to connect individuals and so create a stronger bank. The culture is inclusive and you will definitely feel very welcoming to be an BAML employee.
We were given presentations about our choice of divisions. It gave us a general idea about the primary role of the divisions, about how a day is like and what responsibilities lie within the division, what to expect and how one can make contributions. It was very helpful in my opinion. Before the insight, I intended to apply for Market Risk but I changed to Credit Risk after I received the presentations about the Credit Risk Division of BAML, which I found very interesting.
Everything Else
My travel expenses were reimbursed by BAML and I was accommodated in a very apartment which is in very handy location. All food and drinks were provided by BAML. We had 3 networking lunch, 2 networking breakfast and 2 networking dinner. The food was fantastic. We had a chance to dine out at a 5 star restaurant near Bank Station
There were a lot of opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company. We had a lot of networking sessions where a lot of BAML employees took part in. The speed networking was fantastic as we had the chance to speak to as many employees as possible and so I got a lot of valuable experiences
We had a lot of networking sessions where a lot of BAML employees took part in. The networking dinner was very nice as I had the chance to speak one to one to a banker for the whole dinner and I got his email for my follow-up questions. The speed networking was fantastic as we had the chance to speak to as many employees as possible and so I got a lot of valuable experiences
I have met people from many societies within BAML. A banker from the multicultural leadership network told me that the network was to help people to connect outside of work and so I believe there would be a lot of things to get involved in outside of work BAML. There are also sports societies like the BAML football societies.
I would definitely recommend this insight to a friend because of its usefulness. I gained a lot of valuable insights into banking during the programme. I have also spoke to a lot of bankers and made valuable contacts that I believe would help me throughout my career. This programme is very useful to someone who have little knowledge but curious about investment banking
