The Role
I really enjoyed my internship, developed a better insight of the organisation, and how particular teams fit into the wider picture
I felt really valued by my colleagues, especially as my work was really important,, as i was helping to action out an an area highlighted by Audit
The support was good, in terms of my line manager was extremely open and welcoming if i had any issues or concerns, however, i was given a lot of independence with how i carried projects out
The begining of the internship was mainly shadowing, so not extremely busy in terms of my own adding value contribution. However, this increased as other staff developed more confidence and trust in my ability.. once my main porojects finished, the busy-ness calmed down
I was given alot of responsibility, leading workshops, creating new processes and creating reports
It would help my writing become more concise, and make me more aware of tailoring my work to different members of my audience e.g adapting work to each lecturer
The Company
Due to the nature of the role being back office, it was a generally slow paced environment, relaxed, and alot of casual outfits.. which was a surprise
It was well organised, i had different areas i needed to attend to scheduled within my timetable
There wasn't too much training invested in me, apart from access to an online training site.. most of the things learnt was based on initiative
Flexi Time
Subsidised/Company Gym
Really good, due to the various opportunities in different areas of the bank
The Culture
Yes, interns were placed in an accomodation together- where you got to meet new people
In london, relatively expensive, but it depends on how you decide to spend your money.. bargains or luxury?
Always somewhere that would suit your preference
Not too many in my particular office
