The Role
The internship offered a great opportunity to look in the firm. The firm has a very professional culture, in which it easy to excel. The firm organises a number of social events to help you integrate in the firm. The internship offered me the possibility to implement something that can actually be used.
I felt very valued by my colleagues, they were interested in me as a person. They value your contributions. One of the best things is that colleagues are almost always prepared to help you if you need that. They invited me also on social events, which is great. It is really important to get together sometime and just have a drink together
Management is great, they support you very good. If they cannot help you, they will point you to someone who can. They are open to provide you with feedback if you ask, and they will give you. It is a great place to learn new things, especially about yourself. Furthermore, most managers respect the flat hierarchy, so they will listen to your ideas.
As intern you work on a project which is typically not that critical. On a daily basis you often had HCM events, which sometime obstructed you from doing your actual work, and sometimes felt as a welcome distraction from your regular work. Overal there is a nice balance in events.
There is a lot of responsibility. The projects are typically not that critical, which means that they don't have to be done instantly. Sometimes that made me feel to be more distant from responsibility. We were doing a project from which the outcome had a small impact, and not that big as we might could have handled
The skills were mainly on the social side, working close together in a team. Some technical skills could help me further, only the social skills far exceeded the technical skills. I learned some AngularJS and some extra Javascript during the course of my internship. But teamwork is one of the main things I learned at Goldman Sachs.
The Company
The atmosphere is really good, very professional people, who are wiling to help you, and listen to your ideas. Most people will leave the office on time, meaning it is really quiet after six, some people may say that is a lack of fun, but I see it as respect for work life balance.
The organisation is very good. The program offers a great deal of social events, furthermore there are also a lot of technical sessions, and senior leadership talks. Some of the talks are from very inspiring people. Who really now there stuff. The inspiration from this has been really good. Prior, the on boarding process is seamless. Very well organised.
The firm invested, but it could have been more tailored.

Very appealing. The job is very good. It will start with training in New York, which is a big bonus. The firm will provide training there, so that you can make a head start on your employment. The firm does a quick process in letting you whether you will get an offer to come back as a new analyst.
The Culture
The cost of living is very high. The socialising is very high. London is a really expensive area to live. The rent is really high, the office in the middle of London, so you are forst to rent really expensive accommodation. On the plus side, you get to live in the centre of London, which is amazing for a ten week period.
London was really amazing. There were a lot of bars around the office, and you felt like it, you can go out with colleagues in Shoreditch or more expensive areas. With the interns we generally had drinks multiple times a week. We mostly just hang out in bars, which are somewhat cheaper than real upscale clubs.
