The Role
I found my internship was very enjoyable. I always had work to do so I never got bored, and was always being challenged
If I was ever struggling with a piece of work or needed direction I found there was always someone willing to help and offer their time
Perfect balance, in terms of the fact I was always kept busy and was never bored but did not have to much on so that it was unmanageable
A lot of responsibility I was involved real work that will be used by the company, so I felt like I was making a real contribution
I have learnt a lot of skills, which will be very useful for university and beyond. Firstly in terms of technical knowledge I have learnt a lot of computer programmes, and a lot of soil mechanics which will be useful next year module. But also in terms of soft skills like: how to interact with people, how to write an email with the appropriate amount of formality, presenting skills etc, that will be essential in any job
The Company
A general atmosphere that was very conducive to working. The odd chat will be had while getting coffee and at lunch but not particularly at ones desk
It was very well organised. I was able to come straight in and start work from day 1. You were partnered with a buddy so if you ever needed help or guidance they were always there. Also meetings and presentations were had to review how the internship is going and how best to make the most out of the time left.

Would be very keen to try and secure a job with Atkins, as they have been a great company to work for.
The Culture
It is good I know most of them. The ones I know we will generally go and get lunch out in town together on a Friday and usually go for a drink with them as well after work.
I started living in my house for University in Guildford as the rent had already started for it and so commuted to Epsom on the train, which was quite expensive, but that was just how it worked best for me and there is nothing really the company could of done. However if I was working here on a year internship or permanently then I would rent a place in Epsom which would make the cost of living a lot cheaper
I did not do an internship or pick the location of work for the nightlife and I did not really partake in it during my time here, as I had summer holiday and the first year of university for that, so I can not really comment, . However from what I understand Epsom is doesn't have great night life, but both Guildford and London are very accessible so if people wanted then it could be excellent
Yes Atkins offered a whole array of sports and activities to get involved in. I personally joined the hockey team, which was good fun and a nice way to meet people
