The Role
Really enjoyed the year!
I felt really valued and a healthy distance was maintained
Any/all questions were answered and I never felt I'd asked a stupid question or that my supervisor was too busy to help me.
I was extremely busy at the start, but my supervisor helped me to manage my workload so I could keep my "head above water"
My role was to provide information for other members of the team to make decisions, I feel I had complete control about my projects and was free to approach them however I saw fit
I hope to build on the insight gained in the future and I feel far more confident in my abilities
The Company
The office was a really varied environment, at times it was a quiet place and others it was a real social hub.
The placement was well organised and there was support available if/when needed
3M provided a few general training events on productivity and "personal brand", however the undergrad placement students were not supplied specific training; six sigma, insights, gap negotiation courses which (apparently) has been done in the past.
Flexi Time
National Travel
Company Parties/Events
Above 25 days holiday
The company has a "hire to retire" scheme which is fantastic and if this was readily available then 3M would get a 10 and I'd sign up immediately. A headcount freeze has meant the prospect of a lifelong career at 3M is ever waning. There are agency staff that have worked for 3M for upwards of 5 years without offers of employment by 3M.
The Culture
Everytime a group event/ training day was organised by the company all the students would go out for a meal/social.
Loughborough is brilliantly cheap! And there are loads of things to get involved with at the university even if youre not a student.
echoes echoes echoes.
there were barbecues and socials laid on by 3M which were good fun!
