The Role
Fantastic opportunity over the course of the year. Good shift patterns, working 9 to 5 on weekdays. Opportunities outside of the workplace too to promote the company was a plus.
I wasn't treat like an intern. Instead I was treat as if I had worked there for years. When an employee had an issue that I had to fix (IT related), they automatically assumed you had years of experience and would be more than capable on fixing the issue.
Continuous support from my manager throughout the year. They would be there to discuss anything with them. Everything would be informal but confidential too.
Lots of diverse tasks to get on with.
I was always encouraged to initiate new ideas and projects. I was highly acknowledged for when I did do this.
My course is different to what I learned in terms of technical skills whilst at GE. However, other skills such as project management and time management have hugely improved. These have subsequently made things easier in my studies.
The Company
Good, pleasant atmosphere. Easy to talk to people.
Extremely organised. All my equipment was ready for me when I started as well as training and inductions.
A business trip was organised so I could do an induction week elsewhere in the country. Everything was paid for to travel there and stay for a few days.

They encourage all interns to apply for their graduate schemes. As they've already invested in you and since they know your abilities too, they like to keep people on.
The Culture
Yes.
I lived at home, so the cost for me was fine.
Newcastle is a fantastic social scene for all ages, especially young people. Lots of activities to do and places to visit.
There was the occasional work event. Xmas party, etc.
