About You
A very useful and in-depth insight that provided good awareness of the different areas of Fidelity. Fidelity as a firm, put a lot of time and effort into us to ensure we got the most out of the experience. The insight was very enjoyable and relaxed and we learnt a lot about the firm and the industry.
We were treated very well. We had numerous social events, with the other interns organised by HR We also had a long shadowing session with the division of our choice (a choice of 3 divisions). We had presentations from numerous people who came across as genuine and caring and wanted to learn more about us.
The HR reps were very supportive and approachable throughout. We also had a questions session at the end of the placement where we could go through any questions or concerns we had or any concepts that we were confused about. We had a few sessions at the start of the week that gave us the basics and simplified the industry to ensure everyone understood. We also had numerous employees walking around assisting us while we were prepping for our presentation
Yes, I developed team work skills, persistence and determination as well as maintaining focus. We developed presentation skills as we had to work on a presentation and we also developed networking skills as we shadowed employees and had numerous networking sessions. Everyone was willing to answer any questions that I had.
The Company
Very well structured. We had a lot going on, we had a lot of social events and networking sessions as well as time to get to know the other interns on the programme. Each day we had an extensive schedule and numerous talks from business reps as well as a project to work on which developed our knowledge of the business and financial markets and asset management. We had a networking dinner and social events to get to know each other and the HR reps. Although I would have liked to have done more shadowing and networking, perhaps in different divisions rather than just one
Nice and relaxed. The other interns were genuine and focused and the HR reps were lovely and very approachable.
We had extensive sessions , including panel discussions, division specific presentations, skills sessions, and presentation sessions. We also had rotating skills sessions with each HR rep taking a different aspect, ie interview, assessment centres, cv etc. Each of these were fantastic and so useful in helping us submit applications and understand more about the firm and the industry
We networked with employees and grads and spent time shadowing, but not much time was spent around the office. However grads and employees were more than happy to explain to us what it would be like, particularly during networking sessions and panel discussions and the HR reps were also willing to discuss this with us. We also got to see it during shadowing
The insight helped very much so in understanding the culture, the insight was very useful in giving a true representation of the firms culture. We got the impression from HR reps who were very caring towards us, we got the impression while shadowing and also while networking with employees and grads and also while we were shadowing
The insight gave an in depth insight into Asset Management as a whole which was an industry I hadn't considered prior to the event. It is now an industry that I am considering as a future career path, as the insight was very informative and hands on which gave a true representation of the industry and the firm too.
Everything Else
We were reimbursed for the insight and were also provided with breakfast and lunch everyday. we also were provided with dinner on one of the nights when we had a networking dinner with the graduates. There was also an array of snacks available throughout the week and tea and coffee and fruit
We had a lot of social events and networking sessions as well as time to get to know the other interns on the programme. We also had a networking lunch with the grads and also had a dinner with the employees that we met during the week, such as those that had given us presentations. we also met employees while shadowing and were introduced to other employees during shadowing too.
Very good, very well organised and enjoyable. Again, we had a lot of social events and networking sessions as well as time to get to know the other interns on the programme. We also had a networking lunch with the grads and also had a dinner with the employees that we met during the week, such as those that had given us presentations. we also had two socials with the interns...one to the london eye, the other to a bar which were organised by Fidelity which was very nice. All of these were very well organised and executed
Didn't find out much, I did not really ask the questions. We did hear about the womens network and a few employees mentioned their extra-curricular activities, there were a few things mentioned, but probably more than I think because i had not asked the questions. While shadowing i found out a few other activities that employees can get involved in
Would definitely recommend to a friend. Learnt a lot about an industry I hadn't considered before and we were genuinely looked after and cared for, and we felt that we were looked after, We were treated well and met numerous people and learnt about the industry and the firm. We also developed numerous skills through the skills sessions that were very useful and will be carried forward onto any other future job or university.
