The Role
The great thing about being at GSK is that there isn't really a hierarchal structure - you work with people who are senior on a daily basis and the insights gained from this are great! There are also usually lots of students on placement so the community feel is great!
You get given a lot of responsibility on projects and working on projects is quite personal with weekly meetings and catch ups scheduled in with colleagues.
You have a line manager who supports you pretty much everyday with your activities, and questions you may have. But they give you the right amount of independence to do your work, so really help is at your request.
Busy enough to keep me engaged during the day - but most days i'd be able to manage the work load and leave by 5/6pm.
You get to deal with really confidential data - and work on global projects that affect thousands of people, so the responsibility is high!
The key things I learnt during my time were time management skills, confidence and analytical skills. All which will are crucial at university and in the working world.
The Company
Atmosphere was filled with really kind and friendly people, people were approachable and always helpful. There were weekly activities like learning sessions to get involved with, and weekly meetings for students to catch up and socialise.
Very well! It was organised so that I sat in a team which could offer me my own project to work on from beginning to end - and I had the opportunity to network as and when I had time, and get involved with other projects.
There was a lot of personal development during my time - and my team were the most important part of that. Everyone was very understanding and FLEXIBILITY was probably the most common thing that stood out to me, everyone was happy to give feedback, and accommodate to personal needs.

Working from home
The graduate recruitment are very attentive and really encourage you to apply for the schemes. It's very competitive as there is so many people within applying, but the schemes have both depth and breadth.
The Culture
100%, we all sat together at lunch, went out for socials weekly and always had access to each other through online messaging to ask for help. This aspect was probably the most enjoyable.
The office is not in Central London so the pubs weren't as expensive, there were shuttle buses that took you to the station for free and you could take the piccadilly line into Central London for drinks and dinner when we wanted.
There wasn't a night life in Brentford, but the train to Central London was easily accessible for a nightlife there.
