The Role
I enjoyed it so much, CMS Cameron McKenna couldn't have done anymore to make sure that we all had an enjoyable but also engaging experience. I didn't want it to end!
We were all placed with a current solicitor to be a mentor or 'buddy'. My buddy took amazing care of me, always taking me out for lunch or coffee. I also joined in with the office football team at lunch.
My supervisor constantly made sure that I was coping and also had enough work to be getting on with. We are still in touch today!
We were all kept very busy, but that is exactly what I wanted from the experience. If you wanted more work you could ask for it, but equally you were not given more if you had enough on your plate.
Obviously in the legal arena you can't be too involved as you are not qualified (!) but i was surprised at how much I was allowed to be involved. Getting my hands on real client files was very exciting.
My time at CMS Cameron McKenna has motivated me during the last stages of my training and I learnt how to balance my work a lot better during the scheme.
The Company
Everyone was very approachable, and even partners had their doors open and were happy to have long discussions. There were sports being played during lunch and after work, but there is also a clear sense that the work comes first (as it should be!).
It was flawless, we were given a booklet on the first day which explained our timetable for the 2 weeks. There was a good mixture of activities included, and the graduate recruitment team were constantly in contact to ensure it was all going well.
We were given chances to develop presentation skills, negotiation skills, and teamwork and communication skills. We were given feedback by trainees, graduate recruitment, and even partners.

Company Parties/Events
I was subsequently offered a training contract with the firm, which I gladly accepted.
The Culture
I am still in contact with most of my colleagues from the scheme.
It is the City so it is expensive, but all events were paid for by the firm so it cost me nothing!
We went out for a number of meals, bars, and even bowling in Brick Lane. All very good.
Despite only being with the firm for the 2 weeks, I emailed to ask if I could join the football team, and they were very welcoming. I am sure if I wanted to join in with something else then i could have.
