The Role
I really enjoyed the whole experience working at Toyota, I felt really lucky to be in a placement where I looked forward to going to work each day.
Working in only a small team of 3 I did feel really valued by my colleagues, we all worked really closely together which meant I got involved in a lot of really meaningful work that had a direct effect on our business.
With regular 121's with my manager, I always felt I had the support I needed throughout my placement.
I was always kept busy at work, and always had something to do, however always able to take a full hour for lunch and 90% of the time leave on time at the end of the day.
I was given a really good amount of responsibility, which made me feel I had real purpose in my job, for example some of the tasks I completed were integral to the launch of the new vehicles which gave me a great sense of job satisfaction, seeing new Lexus cars on the road and knowing I played an important part in getting that car on the road. As time went on and I had more experience in my role, I was even putting together pricing proposals for new cars, a job usually reserved for management.
Took part in Excel training, which was a great help for me at work, but I'm also now able to apply those skills to my studies.
The Company
The atmosphere in the office, was a really friendly one that made those first few weeks so much easier, everyone was so friendly and eager to help. Recently Toyota introduced a House system (like you have in school) where the different teams compete for point in random competitions throughout the year, which always brought about a bit of fun in the office.

Toyota do offer a graduate scheme which is open exclusively to students who have been through the placement program, however the intake is usually quite low for example out of the 20 or so student who do the placement, only 2 are selected for the graduate role. (Grad process includes a presentation and an assessment day)
The Culture
As I've already mentioned there are around 20 other students on placement with you meaning there is a really good social scene and opportunity for nights out together etc.
Being based in Surrey and just on the outskirts of London, its not the cheapest area to live and go out. I've lived at home which was about 30 miles away, good way to save money, but spending 2-3 hours a day in the car in traffic does drive you mad!
Interesting... Your not too far from London though which is better for nightlife!
Plenty of sports teams etc. to get involved in.
