The Role
I enjoyed the variation during the placement - it was good to see both retail and commercial banking.
Every HSBC employee I met was really interesting and engaging in what I had to say. I felt valued immediately and there is a strong culture of developing young talent to become senior leaders.
Both my managers took a vested interest in making sure I got what I wanted out of my placement and invited me along to relevant meetings and talks.
I was busy everyday throughout my placement.
During my commercial placement I was able to take more responsibility as in retail you cannot handle money and I didn't have the knowledge to deal directly with customers' requests.
The financial analysis aspect of my commercial placement will be really useful.
The Company
Both offices were extremely positive and enjoyable places to work.
Amazingly so - this is the most structured and organised internship I've done. I was very impressed.
Yes - there were lunch and learns held every week, my managers made particular effort to ensure I attended talks and meetings etc.
The global opportunities are the most exciting part of working at HSBC. I was particularly impressed that you are encourage to go abroad during the grad scheme rather than it being an anomaly.
The Culture
The mid placement and end of placement events were really sociable and being in London meant that we could all meet up regularly.
London - quite expensive!
London.
Yes - socially and sporting wise.
