The Role
The summer internship at Sky was an excellent place to spend two months, My experience in the marketing department has been both challenging and rewarding, The fast paced work environment has allowed me to advance my skill set to another level and showcase my involvement in projects which I am very proud of.
Every day I was surrounded by friendly and supportive staff across the whole business. I felt I could go up to anyone and ask for help, the culture allowed for different personalities to shine through with an overall professional environment. The projects I was involved with gave me a large sense of responsibility and I felt I was a real member of the team.
Whenever I needed help or support my team was always willing and able to help, friendly and encouraging to overcome any issue I was facing. I was able to regularly have meetings with my team members and managers to review and improve the projects I was working on and producing,
I had normal working hours, with one hour for lunch. My main project which I was involved in initially required extensive research, collating and evaluating this research kept me busy and I created and presented my findings to senior managers in my final week. As well as this project I contributed to a number of other team projects and completed a number of self-training courses.
I was solely responsibility for starting and completing my own project, the project looked intro future trends impacting the company and providing recommendations to the company. I felt I was given a large amount of responsibility as I had my own individual project and was regularly asked to help team members with theirs.
Working in a fast paced environment allowed me to manage my time and improve my organisational skills. The projects I was involved in helped me to improve my research and presentation skills. Working in the team and participating in team fun activities helped improve my team working and networking ability.
The Company
The atmosphere was fun and enjoyable, with the whole team sharing common goals. Personalities were allowed to shine and expression of personal ideas were welcomed. The surroundings were modern, aesthetically pleasing, eco-friendly and inspiring. Communications were professional but always with a personal note incorporated into every meeting and conversation.
I felt that the internship was very well organised from start to finish, I had clear and timely communication during my application process. The welcome email was extremely helpful in finding a place to rent for the time being. The programme leader scheduled regular meetings to share advice and introduce to others around the business.
On arrival, there was an induction session learning the ins-and-outs of the campus. Through the internal website there were numerous training events available to book onto, which were highly informative, enjoyable and beneficial. My highlight would be participating in an external masterclass at Southbank where expenses were covered.

On completion of the summer internship, I was aware that Sky offered industrial placements and graduate schemes. By completing the summer internship I had the added bonus of bypassing the application stages for future opportunities such as industrial placements and reach the interview stages. Future opportunities are very attractive due to the successful time and experiences I had
The Culture
The friendly office atmosphere continued outside the office as well, at lunch time people went to one of the many canteens or restaurants on offer together. Lots of activities to participate in with colleagues such as table tennis and pool, as well as a fantastic subsidised gym and fitness classes available.
