About You
I am so glad I got the chance of doing a two-week internship at GRB, which was obviously short but still gave me enough time to understand how the company in general and their marketing department in particular works.
During my time I wrote three posts for their blog (of which one has been published so far) created and scheduled tweets for the next months, called students to follow up on their CV upload, and did some research. Because they asked me for feedback a lot, I did feel that my opinion mattered. I learned a lot about social networking and was introduced to two websites I had never heard of before – Crowdfire and Hootsuite. I was also given the chance to work a bit with their database, which was specifically interesting to me as I had written my bachelor dissertation in the field of database marketing but had never actually seen nor used one.
I had all the support I needed. As I was interning with the marketing department, I had the most contact with them. They all included me in their work wherever they could and made me feel part of their team. I was also given the opportunity to shadow one of their recruiters, who let me sit with her and explained every step of the work she did as she went along. It was great to receive this further insight.
Aiming for a career in marketing knowledge about social media and networking is essential. The internship helped me to improve these skills.
The Company
It was well structured, I always had somebody assigning me new tasks or letting me help them. I was also given a list of tasks I could complete as I went along.
Because there are basically only two large office rooms, everybody sits together which improves communication. I found it particularly interesting that the two co-founders sit in the same room as the consultants and don’t have their own office, another indication for the good relationship among each other regardless of hierarchy.
This question is not applicable to me.
It gave me a full insight in this regard, as I was treated like a full member during the two weeks.
One of the reasons of me applying for an internship was to see which paths I could pursue in marketing. In this regard it helped me a lot.
Everything Else
All the time. I met a lot of them but had the most contact with the ones I reported to.
They do seem to offer a lot of out-of-work gatherings.
Most definitely. Being able to overhear the consultants on the phone all day and see how motivated and dedicated they worked to find the best fit for a client and candidate, I feel eligible to recommend GRB not only as a work place but also for their recruiting/consulting service.
