The Role
Though not necessarily the most glamourous of jobs it was nonetheless very enjoyable and fulfilling to be able to get stuck in with the work and meet a wide range of clients.
The people that work there are one of the reasons why I could see myself coming back in a year after I have finished my degree. I immediately was made to feel welcome and a member of the team.
The management were very helpful by booking me on jobs and making sure I got as much experience as possible. They were very helpful and helped to organise my internship well.
I was generally given a lot of work to do though there were times when I did find myself twiddling my thumbs, though this is down to the summer period being one of the less hectic times throughout the year.
I was given responsibility from day one and certainly had to try and do as much as I could which was great seeing as it is the best way to learn.
My course is not directly related to accountancy but my people skills have certainly improved as well as my time management which are always useful.
The Company
It was a great place to work whilst remaining professional at the same time. You could tell that everyone wanted to be there and got on so well.
This was the first year that the internship was run and I thought that the firm did a great job. It will only get even better next year as well.
They invested a lot through giving me plenty of responsibility from the start and making sure I had adequate training to get me started in the first week.
Company Parties/Events
They are very appealing. The qualifications you can get from your three-year training contract once you graduate open up so many doors not only within the firm but within the wider world too.
The Culture
There were only two of us in our office and we certainly had a chance to go out with others in the office. When All the internsgot together in London on a few occasions there was plenty of scope to do things together.
The money was not a problem and since I was staying with my parents who live nearby the cost of living was minimal.
Southampton has a diverse nightlife to suit all tastes with plenty of pubs, bars and clubs.
There certainly were with football practices happening each week and well as organised socials and trips into town on a friday night.
