The Role
I really enjoyed BlackRock 10 week internship. Really well thought through and well organised.
I felt valued as every project I completed contributed to the team and was appreciated.
My manager thought through all the projects and provided my objectives the first week I arrived. Throughout the internship my manager ensured that I was enjoying the experience and learning as much as I can rather than just giving me tasks that need to be done.
I not only had projects to complete, the structure of the internship also included networking events, projects with other interns as well as educational presentations. These all ensured that I not only learnt what my team does but also became aware of the company as a whole and its role.
I believe that as I learnt more and became more aware of the main aspects of Transition Management I was given more responsibility. Towards the end of the internship I was even given a client and was asked to provide cost estimates for the transition of their portfolio.
It was a very education experience. I not only experienced a working environment but also realised what areas interest me as a long term career. It was also a lot of fun and I never knew that work could be so satisfying. I received transferable skills, which I believe will be key to my success in the future.
The Company
My team were very welcoming and were always there when I needed help. I really enjoyed interactive with so many people who were so passionate about what they do. Overall a very positive atmosphere.
The internship was very organised from social events to presentations. From the very beginning it was very clear of the steps to be followed and I was very impressed by how much more I learnt because of the structure of the internship.
I believe I was working in a great team who really cared about my development. A lot of time was invested into my by my manager and other colleagues. I was also given opportunities to present in front of the whole team. My manager was very involved in my personal training and even gave me tips for my long term career rather than just for the internship.
Subsidised Canteen
I would say BlackRock has a lot to offer. Everyone who I met was very welcoming and friendly. This company has a very positive atmosphere with a lot of very intelligent people who are there to help you, challenge you and work with you.
The Culture
I attended a lot of social events with other interns as well as colleagues.
Social events were provided by the internship but the cost of living in London is relatively expensive.
A lot of bars and nice restaurants.
I ran 5km with some colleagues. There were also loads of events outside work. I also participated in the team's quarterly social event, which was bowling. It was a lot of fun meeting colleagues outside work.
