The Role
Everyday work could be a bit monotonous sometimes, but in general projects I had to work on were very interesting, exposing me to different technologies and aspects of the firm's business. Team and environment were amazing and definitely enjoyed myself during the internship.
A lot, team members would treat me as an equal part of the team, always taking into consideration my opinion/ideas, would sometimes even ask for help for their projects.
A lot, my manager and other members of the team were always there when I needed help, including pair-coding with me for long periods of time to help me fix/improve code.
It varied. Some days were quite hectic with constant project work the whole day, however some days were very slow, especially when waiting for permissions to access existing code or when the project could not continue until some decision had to be made.
Quite a lot. The project I worked on was later deployed and used by the customers, meaning my work had a direct impact on the firm's business. Obviously everything I did was triple-checked before deployment to ensure all worked correctly.
Technical skills were definitely beneficial. During my internship I used technologies I had no previous experience with, which gave me a head start when I went back to university. Additional emphasis on things like presentation skills, time management, etc. were also extremely useful.
The Company
Very friendly, but also professional. Colleagues would often spend time together after work. At the office everyone was ready to help whenever I needed it.
Overall very good. We had a clear idea of what our responsibilities were both within our teams and outside, and all additional events were organized professional. Only negative was set-up time took between 1 and 2 weeks, which meant we lost quite a bit of time from our internship waiting for access permissions, software to be installed, etc, which could've been handled before we started.
Immensely! A huge part of the internship was focused on personal development and soft skills. In addition to the technical training, there were numerous sessions on how to improve our presentation, social, time management, etc. skills in order to take the most from the internship. Those skills will be incredibly useful for us as individuals long after the internship and it definitely felt like the firm was investing in us in the long term.

Very. A lot of job opportunities for full time positions, following the internship, not just in the tech division, but in other areas as well. Above average pay and great benefits. A lot of people got offered full time positions at the end of the internship.
The Culture
A lot of networking events organized by the HR team, both with fellow interns and division-wide. Probably one of the best parts of the internship was the number of incredible people I got to meet and interact with. All friendly and professional, I definitely made a lot of lasting relationships with many people from the office.
City of London (and London in general) are quite expensive, so had to live in a farther neighborhood and commute for about 40 minutes each day (each way). London is definitely not for everyone, but if love living in a giant vibrant cosmopolitan city, very few places come close. And although living costs are high, the pay was equally good, so could easily cover my living expenses.
Lots of pubs and restaurants in the City of London, just walking distance from the office. Not really much to say about whole of London in general - one of the greatest and most fun cities in Europe! There were always a lot of things to do and events to attend, and with a little effort could easily have an amazing and affordable night out!
There definitely were activities to get involved in, however there wasn't much time available to do so. Going to the subsidies gym was a great way to relax after a long day at the office and in addition to that we had an organized trip to one of the company's Data Centers. We also had a CommunityTeamworks day - one day when you go out and work for the community all day (clean parks, paint schools, etc.) - it was incredibly fun!
