  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I very much enjoyed my placement, and it was a great experience.

  • I felt I was a valued member of the team, and was treated as if I was a permanent employee.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My manager, supervisor were very supportive, and would happily help whenever necessary.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Overall, time was well balanced, although there were a few occasions where there was too much or too little to do in a particular time span.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Soon into my placement, I was given various responsibilities, and often given the opportunity to make decisions and develop solutions to problems myself.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • In terms of personal skills, I have learnt and developed a great deal. Although not directly related to my degree, some technical skills do apply.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The office atmosphere was very friendly and relaxed. You were welcome to approach other engineers to ask questions or confirm issues with the product.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Throughout the placement, from my first day to my departure, I felt it was well organised, both through HR and my manager.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I attended some training courses, although there were others which my manager and I thought would be beneficial, but were not available. I was encouraged to do some self study each week to broaden my technical knowledge.

  • Job prospects are very promising.

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Social events were organised by the company several times through the year, as well as placement student specific events.

  • Cambridge is quite an expensive place to live.

  • There is very little nightlife in Cambridge.

  • There are some sports and social clubs which can be joined.
