About You
I enjoyed it very much. It was well organized and gave a deep insight into how an investment bank works. I have met many interesting people, that I have contact with even today. The staff that organized the event was also really well-prepared. Everything from the first to the very last day was really great.
I felt really valued. It doesn't matter, with whom you wanted to talk about your plans, the bank, etc. - they were always listening to you and trying to give you comprehensive answers, so that you could derive from those answers as much as possible.
I received full support. Whenever I had a question or an enquiry, the employees of HR department were always there to help me. When it comes to guidance - we were provided with a well-structured plan of the whole event, so we exactly knew, what we would be doing every day.
Now apart from my degree I try to acquire additional knowledge about things and topics, that are widely used in a bank, but they are not commonly taught at universities. I was in the technology department, and now I am trying to learn some new frameworks and a programming language, that will definietly be useful in my future job and career.
The Company
It was very well structured. Every day was well planned (and there were no delays). Everyday we were provided with meals, refreshers and beverages. As I live outside the UK, I was also provided a room in a hotel near the place, where the whole event took place.
It was really great. Every employee (doesn't matter if directory manager or a person, that works there for only for a couple of monts) was very involved and tried to help and answer questions as good as he/she could. Other participants were also very nice - apart from formal meetings there was always time to have a little chat with other people.
Actually before attending to this event I was a bit affraid, that working in a bank could be to exhaustive and to hard from me, but the employees from my department have explained to me, that I should not worry to much. If you don't know something, the bank provides you with trainings, were you can acquire additional knowldege and catch up with things you did not know.
Everything Else
There were mostly this kind of opportunities. Every day there were at least couple of hours to talk with other people from the department, you were interested in, and from other departments as well. It was the best part of this event, because they have given us the image from the inside, how it is to work for a such big investment bank.
Yes. I have talked about it with some employees. They said, that they organized some sport events e.g. for their department or for the team, they are actually in. Sometimes they also hang out after work (go for a beer, to a club, etc.). I am glad, that such social activities are present.
I already have recommended it to some of my friends. If you still hesitate, whether you want to work in an investment bank, the greatest place to check it is BoAML.
