The Role
Company culture is to treat interns quite well and it is a comfortable learning environment.
Changes from desk to desk but generally felt that I was appreciated and my interest and questions were encouraged.
Again, changes from desk to desk. Always had someone making sure projects were going well, if i had any questions regarding what was happening in markets during the day.
Staying late wasn't usually necessary unless you wanted to... and some discouraged the concept that interns are meant to work too excessively.
Enough responsibility such that I had to manage my time to compete the tasks I knew I had to do on a daily basis without being asked, as it was expected of me. However, reports that would be circulated to clients were obviously reviewed prior to sending them out.
With degree and studies, my experience will help me filter the less applicable classes and focus on the info I will require when beginning full time (although not to much is directly applicable even though I am doing a finance degree). In terms of when I begin working, I will have gotten a grasp of a the job.
The Company
Friendly
We found out about desk assignments on our start day but otherwise no major hitches.
Was trained to do the job I would start doing when I begin working by the desk I was hired to.
Very appealing, I accepted offer
The Culture
All interns were quite close and we often spent time together outside of the office
London is very expensive but the salary more than covered living and socializing expenses
After work entertainment in the city.. Quite a few places to go for whatever entertainment type
Not organized opportunities.. Quite a few networking events
