  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?

    • The morning's often started off slow which was a good opportunity to do some personal learning or to progress on any long term projects. From lunchtime onwards things often got busy once requests and feedback came back from the clients.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?

    • Understandably I started off with very little responsibility but as the work flow within the team picked up, and their trust in my ability grew, I was given much more responsibility towards the end. Culminating in getting to meet one of our clients on two separate occasions.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?

    • I learned more in one week of training than a whole month at Uni!

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?

    • Rothschild is known for its collegiate culture which was clear once I began. Despite a heavy workload at times, the team were more than willing to often sit down with me for over an hour to explain current projects/my work.

    • No noteworthy hiccups

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?

    • We had a week of training from Fitch Learning to begin the internship and also has specific training on different software and research packages that we would be going on to use throughout the internship.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?

    • As an intern class i believe that we all generally got on well but due to the long hours we were unable to embrace the social scene as frequently as i might have liked.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?

    • Living costs were high as should be expected when moving to London but if you aren't tempted by the roof bars then socialising in the area can be reasonable...for London.

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?

    • Yes. I joined the in-house gym which included some very good gym classes which was a great way to meet people from outside of your team/floor. I also competed in the JP Morgan Challenge whilst interning which again was a great way to meet people!
