The Role
The relationship with colleagues was varying depending on the job. I found the technicians and operators the most welcoming.
There was no programme to begin with. After the first week a project and laptop was assigned to me. Interns should be prepared to the fact that management in the Field are very busy.
The work depended on the deadlines approaching, so it fluctuated.
Experiencing the field is very valuable to have in your background if you want to work in the oil and gas industry.
The Company
There was an active team effort in the office which made the atmosphere good. However due to the high pace nature of the job, the atmosphere was sometimes a bit stressful.
The HR organisation was very well planned. The planning inside the base was slightly less well organised.
There was an extensive period of training for health and safety.
National Travel
Very appealing because it is a very large organisation that has many employment prospects, not only in the field but also research and engineering centres.
The Culture
Yes, all the interns kept in touch and met up regularly even though we were not working at the same offices.
Aberdeen has the biggest ratio of pub to people in the UK.
