About You
I thoroughly enjoyed the week gaining vast amounts of advice. I particularly enjoyed the Workplace Shadowing Experience which gave me a true hands on insight to working within a company like Mace.
Mace staff were always happy to answer any questions I had. At no point did I feel that we were a burden to the staff who would always go the extra mile to ensure they provided all the details. During the shadowing experience this was felt the most as the construction professionals were keen to speak to me about their involvement with Mace and the job at hand.
Prior to the insight week I had many questions relating to my career which I was debating. The week at Mace helped me to make informed decisions such as 'Construction Manager or Project Manager?' for example.
I believe that during the Insight week I learnt more than you would in weeks at university! This is mainly due to seeing and experiencing things first hand.
The Company
The whole week was timetabled so that we knew exactly what was going on and when. This timetable was circulated a few weeks prior to the experience beginning.
The group of undergraduates on the week were a good bunch who helped form a good atmosphere throughout the week. The Mace staff who presented to us were always excitable about their role which helped us form a good understanding of Mace as a place to work.
Everything Else
The Chief Executive Mark Reynolds came to speak to us and was happy to answer any questions. Talks from Quantity Surveyors, Architects, Construction Managers and Project Managers are just a few of the others who we were able to meet and network with.
