The Role
I really enjoyed it. I met lots of different people and learned a lot in the TAS service line of EY. Not only have I learnt about TAS but I also developed many transferable skills such as communication and interpersonal skills. I really liked the work they gave me and I had a great experience.
Everyone was very friendly and helpful; whenever I needed help, they are always there and patiently answered my questions. I had a lot of questions but they answered all the questions I had and made sure I understood everything. This made me feel very valued by my colleagues and I really like the friendly atmosphere at EY.
The support and guidance was very good!
I thought that I had a perfect balance. I always had work to do and my manager made sure that I am kept busy but at the same time, he also gives me time to have a coffee with other interns and colleagues so we can network and ask questions. This was really good as it gave me an opportunity to take a rest and network with others.
I was working on one project with my manager so I was given some responsibility.
I developed many skills and knowledge that I cannot get in education. For example, I improve my commercial awareness which would help me in the future and also my degree as there is overlap between that and finance modules at University. I also developed many transferable skills such as presentation, communication and interpersonal skills which would help me develop very professional presentations in the future.
The Company
The atmosphere was very fun and friendly. From time to time, they would go for a chat and coffee and also everyone is always so friendly. Especially when you meet new people. They are always willing to talk to you and even the more senior people of the firm. It would very good to have an opportunity to talk to partners and directors.
The internship was not very well organised at the start. I wasn’t told about the instructions for the first week until I emailed them. However after that, everything was very well organised and I was given all the information I needed. Even though at the start, I wasn’t aware of the instructions, I was told who to contact so was definitely helpful.
Our company gave us a 1 week of induction which really helped us develop the skills we needed for the internship and gave us all the background information we need about the company. They invested a lot into training and EY has a strong culture in training and feedback which I really liked because I can further develop my skills and learn something new in a professional manner.
Sports and Social Club
I think that there is a great chance I will be offered a job.
The Culture
There were a lot of after work drinks and networking events so there was a very good social scene. This was also a very good way to build contact with people working in the firm and the area of my interest. I met a lot of people and I really enjoyed listening to some other their experiences.
It was very cheap because all the social events were paid by the company and I lived at home so I only had to cover travel and food expenses. However being in London was very expensive but I managed to save money by eating in the company’s canteen and buying a travelcard.
It was very good. There are a lot of socialising and events at night;.
There are a lot of after work clubs and events I could attend. I went to the badminton club which was very good. They encourage us to get more than just the work experience so I decided to look into it and found the badminton club. There were also many other opportunities but unfortunately, I didn’t get a chance to attend.
