The Role
They gave me real projects and a large variety of them, which gave me exposure to lots of projects in ground engineerings, which meant even if i didn't enjoy one bit, i soon moved on to a more enjoyable project, and as a result I was able to work with lots of different people.
Everyone was super friendly and always involved me in activities and out of work events. Even after I finished I was invited with team to go to talks etc.
My supervisor checked up on me everyday making sure I was getting on ok with me work, whether I wanted to try anything different etc. They also helped with my CV and career decisions.
Business would depend on the projects available at the time, which meant there were definite lulls in the amount of work, however this was department wide and not solely for people on internships.
A lot of responsibility was given to me from the first day, especially as the first project I was given was an expert Witness Case.
It was a really good way to improve my writing skills which will definitely be useful in my degree! It also helps with relating your degree straight to industry and confirming everything you have learnt.
The Company
Everyone was really friendly, which created a really nice atmosphere! Hot design also helped integrate the teams which meant everyone knew each other.
HR gave me the wrong end date, my supervisor was not present on my first day which meant other people were not sure what to do with me. However when I started doing work, they were really organised and always had work planned.
They have fast tracked my application process to their grad scheme and have helped with my applications to masters programs.
If I want to be an Engineering Geologist I would definitely join atkins, they have a great reputation and the atmosphere of the office is so good its definitely somewhere I'd want to work
The Culture
Unfortunately most of the fellow students finished their placement soon after I started, however I had lunch with my team everyday and to the pub with the floor on Fridays.
Was Cheaper than South West London!

I was invited (and still am being invited) to talks my team go to, to do with the field, for example at the Geological society. I also played in a rounders game with he department.
