The Role
The work environment was friendly yet ambitious and challenging. The team were supportive yet gave me responsibility.
Having my own project I felt a valued member of the team and that I also provided the company with much value.
My supervisor was with me everyday and management were very accessible.
I had multiple laboratory tests to do everyday. I also had to complete training courses and create presentations/ reports.
Given my own project to work on which gave me great responsibility.
I completed an Oil and Gas Exploration, Production and Operations training course and feel that this has given me a great foundation of the oil and gas industry, especially in well operations. The practices I learnt in the lab were also important, these skills include the importance of time management, preparation, and safety analysis. I am looking forward to using these skills I have developed through the internship in both my studies and during my career.
The Company
Atmosphere in the office was friendly yet professional.
Contact prior to the internship from HR side was fantastic, however I felt those who I was directly working for were rather unprepared for my starting date. Enjoyed training courses I was enrolled on.
As mentioned earlier I was impressed by the investment on the training courses in which Schlumberger enrolled me.
Company Parties/Events
I was impressed by Schlumberger operations and would seriously considered a career within the company.
The Culture
The other interns were very easy to get on with and I enjoyed meeting them for social events throughout the internship.
Aberdeen is generally quite an expensive city. I was living at home however so my living expense was great.
Enjoyed spending time with the other interns and my colleagues.
Played football with colleagues outside work. Events were infrequent, but I felt welcomed to any event.
