About You
The insight was very enjoyable. The opportunity was made intresting by the variety of tasks that were run through out the experience. The group project activity was most interesting as it allowed the use of problem solving as a group to solve a real problem.
I felt valued during my time with the company. The staff were welcoming and made every effort to talk to everyone during the insight experience.
Guidance was provided when necessary in the insight. During the group project minimum but valuable guidance was provided to ensure the task could be completed.
The insight did not necessarily provide me with new skills but instead taught me about the opportunities available at Schlumberger. The insight showed me that there a huge variety of job types available with the company.
The Company
The insight was very well organised tasks were always on time and every effort was made to ensure the day was filled with activities. Cannot fault their organisation during the insight.
The atmosphere was very friendly during the experience. The staff and other peers on the insight were all welcoming and very willing to provide any assistance required.
The company spent lots of time on the whole insight group. They encouraged personal development by providing presentation tasks on our time with the company. Further to this they set a group project which allowed problem solving and the use of engineering skills.
The company allowed us to talk to a variety of different employees who were keen to tell us about what their life with schlumberger was like. They all said they enjoyed a good work life balance.
The company were very forward thinking and seemed to encourage responsibility and independent working into people. Very early on interns were given tasks to work through by themselves which were important to the company.
The insight showed me that working in the oil industry could be very interesting. The use of a mini career show gave the opportunity to find out more about the variety of jobs available at the company.
Everything Else
The company paid for all food, travel and accommodation very kindly.
A half day job shadowing allowed the opportunity to meet with employees at the company. There was a chance to ask them about their job and their experience with the company. Mini careers fair also gave the chance to meet employees from across the country in different sectors of the company.
The networking and social events were very enjoyable. Having dinner with some of the managers was a very relaxed and friendly affair. The member of staff who I job shadowed was very friendly and keen to answer my questions.
There was some talk about the opportunities that staff could t involved in. An intern spoke about sporting activities that they sometimes took part in with other staff.
I'd highly recommend this opportunity. The chance to find out about a global company is not one to turn down. I highly enjoyed myself there too.
