The Role
I really enjoyed working at EY. The work I was given was varied and interesting. The firm's culture makes it a really great environment to work in and it was one I was very happy to be a part of.
My colleagues sent interesting work my way that involved taking a certain level of responsibility which I was happy to go. Feedback on my work was often provided and I felt like I contributed positively and that the work was valued.
My supervisors provided an excellent level of support. They were always happy to talk through my ideas and provide clarification to queries that I had. I was always provided with a background to any task that was given to me and if any technical knowledge was required to carry it out they would be happy to explain that to me.
I was busy for the most part and was kept occupied with either work or an intern project which I was working on. The hours were very much manageable, rarely extending too far beyond a standard 9-5 day.
I feel like I was given an appropriate amount of responsibility during the placement. I was glad to have felt trusted with the responsibility to work independently on the tasks I was given but never felt that I was without support if it was needed.
I think that the skills I have developed will be of greater use to me beyond my degree. I feel as if I have improved upon my ability to work in a team as working collaboratively was a significant feature of the role. I also feel glad to have had the opportunity to work in a business environment and now feel more prepared to do so upon leaving university.
The Company
The office itself was a very pleasant place to work with lots of natural light and a good layout. The people are exceedingly nice and are both great to work and socialise with. They represent a large part of why it was such a great firm to work for.
It was well organised and there was always a point of contact within HR to get in touch with should you have any queries.
I was invited to take the training opportunities that were available to the graduates during my internship programme which certainly contributed to my technical knowledge. I felt that throughout the internship, I had a sense that the firm was committed to investing in us through the mentorship and support I was given by my superiors who were keen for me to stay interested and learn.

I am very keen to start my career with EY. The work itself was interesting and provided significant opportunity to learn and develop. The people within the firm contribute to a hugely positive environment. The firm itself is growing and developing and as such it would be an interesting process to be a part of.
The Culture
Yes, there were department organised socials but on many evening a week, the interns would go for drinks together or with the grads.
It was in London, and as such the cost of living was high.
The nightlife was varied but again, the cost was high.
There are networks within the firm which organise socials and activities for members to be involved in.
