The Role
My colleagues and the other interns were very friendly, and we were given some brilliant opportunities to meet and speak to senior executives. There were also very good events put on - such as a go-karting trip and the occasional drinks event.
Although I did not have a 'team' as such, those who worked in the area around me were very helpful and I enjoyed getting to know them.
My managers were not based in my office so it was sometimes tricky to get the guidance I needed - but when I was able to reach or speak to them they were incredibly helpful.
Most days were very busy - I enjoy variety so I liked the days when I was able to spend time on different projects and tasks.
My project was actually one of my line manager's projects, so I felt that I had been given a large amount of responsibility.
I am still on this placement but I feel that I will take away a lot of knowledge and insight about the company, the industry, and working practices.
The Company
Everyone was always very engaged with their work.
The structure of the internship, the events that would take place, and the assessments were very clear from the outset and everything ran to schedule.
We were given an online training course to complete - but perhaps more valuable for me was the opportunity to gain exposure to different aspects of HR. Colleagues were very keen to talk to me about their experiences, and I was even given the chance to go on a training trip to a different office. The interns were also given many opportunities to speak to senior leaders about their experiences. Most importantly I think we were all given challenging tasks which allowed us to learn a lot on-the-job.

The experience gave me an insight into the culture and operations of Barclays and I have really liked what I have seen!
The Culture
We had lunches, coffees and drinks after work together.
Canary Wharf is generally not a cheap area.
The interns tended to go elsewhere for the nightlife.
Some of the other interns went to the gym with their teams or had evening events, but I was not one of the lucky few!
