The Role
It was a great placement, the best part being the hands on experience Baringa gives you by placing you on the client site and being part of a project team
Yes in the sense that all the work I did contributed to the project deliverables and at the end of the internship I received good feedback from my project manager.
My immediate supervisor gave me support when I asked for it but there was also a good balance between providing support and independence, allowing me to work things out for myself
I was put on a particularly high pressured project which is what excited me and I was kept very busy on a day to day basis.
I was given more responsibility as I progressed through the placement but it was a gradual progression as I became more confident in my work. At the end of the placement there were areas where I was communicating directly with the client which was a good experience.
My excel skills improved significantly and my communication skills with both the project team and the client. These skills will assist me mainly when I begin working but the excel skills could be transferable to my degree.
The Company
I spent most of my time working on the client site which did not reflect the atmosphere of Baringa, but when I had the opportunity to spend time at the main office, the atmosphere was always lively and friendly.
It was very well organised on my behalf with training provided during the first week and a structured feedback process for both myself and the company throughout
We were provided with sessions every Friday that taught us about other parts of the company but in terms of training to become a better consultant, there was only the training at the beginning of the internship and I would have enjoyed a follow up session maybe half way through the placement
Company Parties/Events
I was very keen to be offered a position of employment at the end of the internship because I enjoyed the atmosphere within the company and the work I was I doing
The Culture
There was a really good social scene with socials organised for the interns as well as invitations to other company events
I was able to commute from home but in general London was expensive
Nightlife was good fun but expensive. But anywhere in London was reachable
Not so much because we were all based on different projects and only saw each other on Fridays
