    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I enjoyed placement, over the year I felt I developed a number of skills which will benefit me in my career going forward.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt valued and was treated as a 1st year would be from the start of placement. The work I received felt meaningful and my colleagues were quick to offer assistance if I struggled with any new concepts in the work I was preparing.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • As mentioned above the support I received if I was struggling with any areas was positive and I was encouraged to ask questions to enhance my comprehension of the audit areas I was responsible for.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Although I was an intern, I would not say I did not have enough work. The hours were manageable with spikes every now and then. However this is to be expected when working in any finance related industry. Overall I found a reasonable balance.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Throughout my placement I felt the responsibility I was given was great. I enjoyed the opportunities I was given to complete a new piece of work I had not previously had experience and felt I was adequately supported when I took on responsibility.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I believe the technical skills I gained will benefit me greatly in my final year of university, whilst the career experience and client interaction will enable me to develop professionally when I graduate.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The office was very friendly and felt quite personal as there was around 100 employees in my department. I found it easy to settle in there.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Overall I thought the placement was well organised at the start of placement however some of the communication received as the placement went on wasn't as clear as it could of been.

    3/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I had regular progress meetings with my councillor whilst on placement. These meetings allowed me to communicate my goals I wanted to achieve whilst on placement. Through this meetings I was able to achieve these including gaining some experience in a different service line.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Company Parties/Events

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • The career progression at EY is one of the most appealing aspects of the firm in my opinion. I received a graduate offer and EY appear to offer an offer to all candidates that impress them and they are not prevented from doing so by pre determined quotas.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Being in a regional office the social scene was not as vibrant as it may of been in London. However I enjoyed the regular office drinks and events such as the christmas party were well organised and good fun.

    3/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • The city was reasonably priced with plenty of accommodation available to cater to most individuals budgets.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Bristol nightlife was quite student orientated which I enjoyed having friends at University there. However I feel if I was to return their post University it may not of been to be my liking as much.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • As part of our induction at the firm we completed a CSR day helping with landscaping at Battersea Park in London. The firm promote CSR with each employee being entitled to taking some days off to complete such projects each year.
