About You
I thoroughly enjoyed my placement at KPMG. I was given a true insight into the job, through completing audit work, including starting some tests from inception, and working directly with clients. The placement also gave me a good insight into networking, as I attended a Young Bankers Association networking event, where I met people of similar ages doing similar placements.
I felt settled into the firm immediately, and over the 4 weeks I got on with each audit team extremely well. Through receiving my feedback, I felt the work I had done for each client had been thoroughly appreciated.
Each of my in-charges as well as other members of the audit team were very supportive and were always willing to answer my questions and aid my learning
As my degree is unrelated to accounting, the skills I learnt will not directly assist my degree. However, as I have now accepted a job with KPMG, I feel that when I start my job I will be a lot more prepared than those who didn't do the placement.
The Company
Very well structured. I was never short of work and as I was with a different client each week, this meant that the audit work I was performing was varied week to week.
There is a very friendly and supportive atmosphere in KPMG.
The firm invested a lot in me. They allowed me to work with a different client each week, be very integral in the audit work and there were a lot of opportunities to learn more about business through conference calls and networking events
Through working on the client site, this gave me a very good insight into having a full time job in the firm. This allowed me to experience working in an audit team, doing audit work, and querying with clients directly.
KPMGs values were clear throughout my placement, and the people they hire reflect this.
Extremely valuable, the experience really instilled in me that I wanted to work in business, and especially with KPMG
Everything Else
I was paid well for my 4 week internship and was also reimbursed for any food and travel expenses
Yes, I attended the Young Bankers Association event. Further through working on a different client each week, I met a lot of employees at different levels within the firm.
They were good in that they allowed you to meet people of similar age in the same situation, and discuss different careers
Yes, I learnt about different events held by KPMG, as well as different clubs within the firm. However, as it was a four week internship, I was unable to experience any of them.
Yes, KPMG provided a well structured insight into working within the firm, and the people at KPMG are all very friendly and supportive
