About You
The insight is an amazing opportunity to get to know the company and the company culture beyond what is written on the website. It was a wonderful experience due to the large variety of activities included and the chance to meet and talk to professionals from different levels in a rather informal atmosphere.
All the people I met at the insight were very friendly and eager to answer all of my questions. What is more, I felt that my questions were appreciated.
There were a couple of skills sessions which were very interactive with the people leading them very keen on helping us improve.
We had the chance to do a group project which definitely improved my team skills as I had to work with people I met the day before, all from different universities and doing different programmes. Furthermore, we had to come up with an idea and present it in less than 3 hours which certainly tested my ability to prioritize and coordinate actions. I am absolutely sure that having the chance to do a project in the KPMG environment has improved those skills which are valuable not only for my studies and university projects, but also later in my career.
The Company
I couldn't be happier with the structure of the insight. There were a lot of different activities and presentations included. the skills sessions were very interactive and the people representing their departments had done an amazing job with their presentations which were not only informative but also full of actual examples from their experience. I also enjoyed the fact that we had the chance to meet more people outside the office at the end of the first day.
The atmosphere was very friendly and relaxed, something that i did not expect but certainly enjoyed very much.
There were different skills sessions organized, which were very interactive, so we had the chance to immediately practice what we had learned.
The people that were introducing us to the different departments were at different levels of their career development so I got a pretty good idea of the responsibilities at each stage. They were giving a lot of examples from different projects which I appreciated a lot and it is something that one cannot see on the website. They were also talking about the different activities they are involved in outside work which helped me understand not only what my responsibilities within the company would be like, but also the company culture.
Everything Else
I was reimbursed the travel expenses both for the insight and the assessment center during the application process.
During the whole insight there were plenty of opportunities to interact. All the KPMG professionals were very friendly and keen on answering my questions. We also went for a drink to a pub which was a great opportunity to learn more about KPMG but also to see the way they have fun outside the office.
Yes, KPMG supports a lot of different causes and employees can take part in. The professionals from the Bristol office also do different things together outside work which I believe contributes to the friendly atmosphere in the office
Definitely, although the website is wonderful and you can learn a lot about the different departments and get a pretty good idea of the responsibilities you might have, the insight is a fantastic way to go beyond that, to learn about the work-life balance of professionals and actually understand whether you could fit in.
