The Role
During my time on the internship, I was treated brilliantly by my colleagues and made to feel at home in my team. I was given a lot of responsibility and the variety of the work really surprised me. KPMG were a brilliant company to work for and every day I was happy to be returning to work.
My colleagues treated me very well and the work I was given was always interesting. I felt that my colleagues were not just there in work time but were actually friends too. I was always given time to talk through tasks with other graduates and the Managers, and I was even afforded time by Partners and Directors to talk through their experiences at the firm.
I was always given support by my colleagues whenever I had a problem and was always given direction when I asked for more work. The managers were always on hand to talk me through tasks and their roles, offering me and insight into their positions and inspiring me to push myself hard during my time there.
During my internship I was always busy and my colleagues were always on hand to explain any tasks and make sure I completed these efficiently. Whenever I was finished with some work it wasn't long before somebody found me something else to help them with. I was also afforded enough down time to keep my sanity and the hours were not too bad ensuring that I maintained a much needed work life balance.
I was given a great amount of responsibility, meeting clients and being involved with a great amount of important work. I was very surprised by this responsibility but I was given a lot of help in adjusting to this and I was always assisted if I had any problems with the work that I was given. I was often working with huge clients which was a great feeling.
I believe the skills I learnt on the internship will help me in the future, through the added confidence I gained during the client-facing work, to the office work experience that I will take forward into the grad role that I have been offered. My overall work ethic has also improved because of my time at KPMG.
The Company
The atmosphere in the office was great and I felt like I was part of a family in the office. If I ever had any problems then there was always someone there to help me. In addition, my colleagues became my friends and the atmosphere during breaks and when I met them outside of work was always great. A brilliant place to work.
The internship was organised very well and I was never wondering what I should have been doing as all of the work in the organisation was done mostly before I arrived. I was scheduled to meet with clients at certain times and each area of work was planned before that week commenced, giving me peace of mind and helping me to understand my role.
The firm invested a great amount of time in watching and recording my progress and helping me to understand where I was up to and how I was doing during my time there. I was also given access to online training programmes meaning that I could learn about my role and increase my effectiveness during my workday.

The future employment prospects within KPMG are brilliant and I have been offered a graduate role with the firm. The opportunity to grow within KPMG is exceptional and means that there is no question whether I will be accepting the role. The graduates working for the firm also seemed to be happy with their positions in the firm.
The Culture
The social scene was great and there were brilliant opportunities to meet people outside of work and get to know them better.
The cost of living in Bristol is quite high, especially considering I come from up north. However, I also go to University in Bristol and I am used to the higher prices and the cost of living there. I believe that you get what you pay for with living in the city as it is one of the best cities in the UK and somewhere that I love. I wouldn't want to be anywhere else, and it's cheaper than London!
Nightlife in Bristol is brilliant and there is always something different to do. There are a vast number of amazing pubs and bars to go to and aswell as this, there are plenty of clubs to choose from too. There are several different sides to Bristol and whatever you are in to you can find something for you.
There are lots of opportunities to get involved with activities and there are always emails circulating about activities and social events with the colleagues in the office. I played in a football team with my department in an office tournament which is an example of the activities that are available within the firm outside of work time.
