The Role
I absolutely loved my placement. I do Microbiology course and before I started at Molson Coors I didn't realise what I could do with my degree. I worked in the product development lab and it was great.
I really felt valued by most of my colleagues. They gave the placement students respect as well as guidance.
My first manager was excellent and I really could not have asked for any more. She was supportive and I learned so much from her - she really was a fountain of all knowledge. She involved me in everything and really opened my eyes to the business. If it wasn't for her I don't know if I would have enjoyed my placement as much. Unfortunately she left the business 2 month before I did.
Some days were busier than others. With my first manager I was busy all the time and I was working in an engaging environment so I absolutely loved it.
I was given quiet alot of responsibility but I was supported through all of it so I never felt like I had too much on my hands.
My confidence skills have improved even just when speaking on the phone to people I find it a lot easier now. I also improved my presentation skills which is great for my final year at university. My organizational skills and time management has also improved as I got into a 9-5 routine.
The Company
The atmosphere is my office great. The R&D department had two separate teams - packing and brewing, but everyone helped each other and I really enjoyed working with everyone there.
The overall placement was organized really well. They are a large company who are used to having placement students in.
We were given the opportunity to sit our general brewing exam which was really good and I got to learn a lot more about the brewing process. We also got CV writing tips and how to improve in future interviews.

The Culture
Yes I lived with 5 other placement students so it was just like being back at university which was really lovely, especially when you first start work in a new city. It was nice to already know people there.
Cost of living and socializing was pretty cheap. However the night life isn't very good in Burton so you had to go to Derby or even Birmingham. Derby was the cheapest in a taxi.
the night life isn't very good in Burton so you had to go to Derby or even Birmingham. Derby was the cheapest in a taxi. There was a few clubs but they are no where near as good as the nights out are at uni.
Different departments had different teams. There was football club - but I didn't attend.
