The Role
The placement was OK but my boss was unsupportive. There was very little reward for doing the work I did, financial or otherwise. I had no particular specific job role which caused dispute on a number of occassions. The manager (my boss) told the area manager that I "didn't listen". I think it was more his problem by 'not saying'.
I had a good relationship with a majority of my colleagues although I did feel like a bit of an outsider, however this was marred by my boss's attitude.
Virtually no support or guidance given.
The work flow was OK and there was always something that needed doing. Sometimes though everyone walked in at once and the problems and stress mounted.
I was allowed to carry out a majority of the tasks although I felt my inpu twasn't appreciated when I tried to take control of certain situations.
This is the job which graduates of my discipline are likely to undertake so overall it was very applicable to my studies. The skills developed however are innate to most individuals.
The Company
I had fun and giggles with certain individuals, others not so much.
Virtuall no organisation. I just turned up and did what was required of me. I was provided with a workbook to complete but it was impractical to do so.
No investment other than the workbook.
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
I was offered a pre-registration placement with them for when I graduate but I don't envisage myself working with the company beyond this if I decide to accept the offer.
The Culture
No extra-curricular activites.
I worked in the area I live. It's OK.
The nightlife in my area is excellent.
No opportunities.
