The Role
My placement was great fun, my colleagues were a great help and helped me learn alot during my placement. It was a great experience and lets you learn and see things that the degree dosen't cover.
From the first day I was treated like part of the team. All of them were friendly and made me feel at home
My pharmacist tutor was brilliant and she helped explain anything I had not meet before or did not understand, and always made time to help me out with my placement portfolio.
My pharmacy is situated in a tourist region of NI, and so can be really busy or quiet depending on the day or weather.
I was given full responsibility for my work which included many dispensing duties, cash management and opening and locking up the shop.
My placement has helped me develop real skills on how to run a pharmacy efficiently in the future.
The Company
All my colleagues were fantastic, very easy to talk to and have a laugh with.
The placement required you to complete a student workbook during the placement, while also performing duties set out by the pharmacy manager. This allowed a good mix of hands on experience, while also expanding my knowledge on certain illnesses/drugs/laws when using the workbook.
The team trained me very well and were always ready to help if I needed anything
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
This is my second summer placement with Lloyds, and I would love to do my pre-reg year with them and then go on to work as a pharmacist for Lloyds.
The Culture
I did not meet any placement students during my placement, but that is because Northern Ireland, has only a small number of students doing placements each year with Lloyds
Stayed with my grandparents for the six weeks, so probably came out cheaper than during university terms.
In the neigbouring towns of Portrush, Portstewart and Coleraine there is plenty of bars and clubs to go to.
During my time off there was lots to do as this is a tourist area and so there are many activities on offer.
